Sunscreen and lupus

It’s finally here…summer, summer, summer time…I can hear Will Smith’s song playing right now. It’s one of my favorite seasons. However, lupus patients must remember that the sun is an enemy to our immune system. We must avoid long times in the rays and cover up as much as possible. I have had my fair share of lupus rashes and sun sickness. So today on my first official day of summer break I was at Target at 8 a.m. when the doors opened getting my sunscreen! If you have lupus and need to go outside for any reason in this sun and heat be sure to wear sunscreen. Talk with your doctor about which one would be best for you but by all means get some. Enjoy your summer fellow luppies!IMG_20140604_143539
