I can still recall when she entered my world with the spirit of a young Black Panther, well versed in the Holy Qur’an and full of black pride! Jacqui was an old soul trapped in a youthful body with a smile and laugh that could turn rain into sunshine.
As an adult I watched her work long hours as a Post Master while juggling the complexities of single motherhood. I had the privilege of being her oldest daughters first babysitter. Jacqui had a winning attitude in the midst of adversity. Witnessing her tenacious spirit gave me hope and confidence that anything was possible if you kept at it! This phenomenal woman started her own hair and body line called Kenkay Shea and was extremely successful at branding and marketing her product. She landed air time on popular news forums and carved out a name for herself. Today as owner of JRG Trucking she is shining brightly alongside her 3 brilliant daughters while serving up wisdom to empower the youth in our community to dream big and be accountable. 2018 the community Queens are rising up to tell their stories! These are tales of healing, deliverance, growth and radical change. Well known author & publisher, DeVonshae Ali is empowering women to tell their stories for God’s glory!
New to the Jah Artsy Gurl house is first time author Maria A. Miller whose debut book, ‘ My Way Out’ covers her turbulent youth and how God triumphantly brought her out of a life of pain and brokenness. This book was written to honor her 1st born son who died of homicide and help women to find their way out of various dimensions of self sabatog.
Come out Feb 4, 2018 for the ‘My Way Out’ Sip & Sign
What an exciting Sunday morning when Lacey Turner, Justin Holmes and a crew of photographers, writers, actors and extras head to Hickey park in Baden, MO to take you way back to the 1995 battle rap era. Authentic, creative and fun always exist where Lacey Turner treads and that’s why as an independent film actress I show up to work hard regardless of the time of day and the chilling winds.
Coming soon! Prepare to be amazed and to see my face on the big screen again. As a youth I loved to rap and filled my notebooks with rhymes. I remember calling into Dr. Jockenstein’s School Roll Call show. Then came the 90’s and the beats were still on lock becoming grimmier with each album drop. So excited that Lacey decided to give us a look back on raw verbs and tight beats! Today Lacey Turner rules the rap game, wins battles regular and has produced music and videos to seal his name in the sands of time. He is also a prolific film director making his mark by assisting in the collective vision of the artsy society here in the Lou which is to make our city the New Black Hollywood!
Omg!!!!! Busy, busy, busy is the only word to describe the last month. I have 2 new books, Handling Business and The TABITHA Anointing! Every book signing has brought out the community with great conversationalist. Also, I ended my journey with Ferguson USA Hot Talk Radio as the producer of Brown Shuga Sunday’s Jazz Show, Renee Lady RaeJ Johnson and other staff members joined Mix 99.5. Our producer decided we’d lay down the jazz show for now as all of us pursue individual goals. I love music so it’s bitter sweet, but I am so grateful for the experience and excited to see what God has in store for us all.
Thankful to Tracy Collins of Unveiled Beauty for keeping me looking fly hunty! My make up as been the talk of the town! Also, I thank Ann Price of Klassy Stylz Boutique for all the lovely accessories she provide for my public appearances & photo shoots! Keep me in prayer as I keep you posted on my fabulous life in spite of lupus!
Happy to announce that my 5th book will be available on Amazon by May 31st, 2017. Check it out! It’s my testimony!
